Rep. Cox Announces Job Opportunities for Winter Maintenance Program at PennDOT
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is now accepting applications and hiring temporary employees for the Winter Maintenance Program, according to Rep. Jim Cox (R-Berks).
Prospective employees should have six months experience in the operation and maintenance of single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating of between 17,000 pounds and 32,000 pounds or with construction and maintenance equipment such as rollers, tractor-maintainers and front loaders. A Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License without air brake restrictions is required. Pay for this position is between $12.76 per hour and $15.30 per hour.
Additionally, clerks are needed during the winter months to operate the radios to dispatch vehicles during snow and ice storms, update the Road Condition Reporting System and provide 24-hour phone answering services. Many of these positions include night shift work. No personal experience is required, but computer experience is a plus according to PennDOT. Pay for this position is $11.32 per hour.
