House Approves Budget Bill with Support from Rep. Cox
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Cox (R-Berks) today voted in the state House in Harrisburg to adopt a state budget bill for the upcoming fiscal year that will begin on July 1.

“We outlined our priorities and moved the budget process forward,” said Cox.  “The next step is for the state Senate to adopt a budget bill and then we will have to work out any differences.”

The budget bill approved by the state House would spend $29.1 billion in 2014-15, representing an increase of less than 2 percent above the state’s current spending plan.

“This bill invests in key areas while finding savings in other departments in an effort to spend within taxpayers’ means while meeting the needs of residents,” Cox said.

The budget legislation – House Bill 2328 – now heads to the Senate for consideration.
