Cox Calls Senate Committee Approval of Property Tax Independence Act a Victory for Homeowners
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Cox (R-Berks), who introduced a version of the Property Tax Independence Act (House Bill 76) in the House, today applauded the Senate Finance Committee’s approval of companion legislation (Senate Bill 76) at a meeting this morning. Following the meeting in Harrisburg, Cox issued the following statement:

“This is an important victory for the grassroots supporters who have been advancing this movement and homeowners across Pennsylvania who would benefit from the enactment of the Property Tax Independence Act.

“Pennsylvanians are one step closer to truly owning their homes.

“While today’s vote is cause for celebration, our work is far from finished. My hope is that today’s victory will further energize the groundswell of support for the Property Tax Independence Act.

“Today’s vote shows that engaged citizen activists can have an impact on their state government. The message of this movement – no tax should have the power to leave you homeless – is continuing to spread across the Commonwealth and today’s vote is proof that grassroots efforts can be successful.”
